The Art of Refusal - Tim Ferris (The 4-hour Workweek) suggests you check email twice per day at 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm. (Never first thing in the morning because you should reserve your most important task for first thing in the day). He applies a similar rule to creating an answer phone message to deal with phone calls. Create an email auto-responder that will train your staff, suppliers and clients to be more effective, stating that you will be looking at your emails (or phone messages) within 4 hours - offer signposts to other team members who can deal with the enquiry. |
